Not that there’s any way to avoid the noise of the upcoming election, but it may be closer than you think. The “fall” primary is about a month away, on Aug. 13, and the city of Sheboygan plans to hold absentee voting sessions at eight nursing homes starting in less than two weeks.

City Secretary Meredith DeBruin announced the dates for the first three sessions on Tuesday, July 23, the next three sessions on July 24 and the final two sessions on Friday, July 25.

During these dates, Special Voting Delegates appointed by the City of Sheboygan will administer absentee ballots for residents of the facilities in the upcoming Partisan Primary Election and Referendum. Residents of these facilities, like any other eligible voter who cannot vote in person on Election Day, may request an absentee ballot. Family members of residents may be present during the voting.

Only observers from the Republican and Democratic Parties will be allowed to accompany lawmakers to each session facility to observe the process. Each party must report the names of observers to the city clerk or election commission no later than the end of business on the last business day preceding the visit.
