Japanese anime ‘My Hero Academia: You’re Next’ to hit US theaters | News

My Hero Academia: You’re Nextthe fourth film in the popular manga and anime series is set to hit North American theaters this fall.

Toho International, whose first American release was Godzilla Minus One in 2023, the animated film will open on October 11. Details were revealed at Anime Expo 2024 in Los Angeles, where fans were shown the first 15 minutes of the film. The film will be released in a subtitled and dubbed version.

The story continues to follow high school student and aspiring superhero Izuku Midoriya in a Japan that has fallen into chaos after the war, with the emergence of a devastating giant fortress as its central theme. The film is directed by Tensai Okamura from a screenplay by Yosuke Kuroda.

The film grossed $47 million worldwide, of which $12.3 million came from the U.S. and $300,000 from the UK.

This My Hero Academy manga is an ongoing series written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi that debuted in the pages of a popular manga magazine Shonen Jump in 2014. In addition to the theatrical films, the manga has been adapted into an anime series, the seventh season of which began airing in May.
