Hillsborough County and CDC Tampa Celebrate Affordable Housing Transformation

Celebrate improvements at social housing complex

TAMPA, Florida. – A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 11 to celebrate the successful acquisition and revitalization of Armature Place Apartments, a 96-apartment community apartment complex located near Busch Gardens.

Through a joint effort, Hillsborough County and the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa (CDC of Tampa) transformed the Armature Place Apartments into a modern, affordable housing option for residents earning 80% or less of the area median income.

The year-long project included extensive interior and exterior renovations, from updated kitchens and bathrooms to new flooring, appliances and HVAC systems. Additional improvements include improved landscaping, new sidewalks and a new squash court for residents to enjoy.

Hillsborough County secured critical funding of $16.2 million from the American Rescue Plan Act, enabling the Tampa CDC to purchase and renovate the property. This investment aligns with the county’s commitment to increasing affordable housing options and supporting community revitalization efforts.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Armature Place Apartments, located at 4131 E. Busch Blvd., Tampa, FL 33617. The event will feature representatives from the Tampa CDC, Hillsborough County officials and other key stakeholders involved in the project.
