Samsung on July 10 announced the launch of the new Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable phones, which the company says are the most durable Galaxy Z devices yet.

Samsung is using “enhanced armored aluminum” in both phones to improve shock absorption and scratch resistance, and the display has improved the creasing area of the inner display. However, the company still rates the devices at 200,000 bends, which is standard for foldable phones and the same number it gave for the previous-generation Galaxy Z.

In addition to their improved durability, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 feature anticipated performance improvements, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor for Galaxy, the most powerful processor available in an Android phone.

The new Galaxy Z phones are available for pre-order now, and will go on sale July 24 on Samsung’s website, Best Buy stores, Amazon, and national carriers.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: Features

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a large external display that lets you do more without having to unfold your phone.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a larger 3.4-inch screen from the previous generation, which is one of the best updates to the Galaxy Z Flip series. Samsung is expanding its usability by allowing for more customization of the screen widgets with options to resize them so you can add more of them, allowing you to get more of the information you want by glancing at the cover screen instead of having to unfold the phone.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 also uses Galaxy AI for Suggested Replies, which suggests replies to messages based on the last seven messages in a conversation. This feature should make replying to messages from the home screen faster and easier than typing words on the full-size keyboard on the home screen.

When you unfold the Galaxy Z Flip 6, a 6.7-inch display is revealed.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 also has a bigger battery and a new 50MP main camera. As you might expect, it runs on the most powerful processor available for Android phones to date, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: Price and Release Date

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 costs $1,099.99 for the base 256GB model. The 512GB model costs $1,219.99.

In typical Samsung style, it has a few offers for those who pre-order on its website. If you pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 6, you can get 12 months of Samsung Care Plus coverage for free. The company will also give you $1,000 for a Galaxy Z Flip 6 with a qualifying trade-in, and you’ll get a model with twice the storage you need at no extra charge.

It should be noted that three color options are available exclusively on Samsung’s website: White, Peach, and Crafted Black. Otherwise, Blue, Silver Shadow, Yellow, and Mint are available wherever the phone is sold.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Features

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 7.6-inch tablet display.

The biggest change to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the external screen, which is 0.11 inches wider than the previous generation. It’s a step in the right direction to make the external screen more useful and usable, as the external screens on previous Z Fold phones were so narrow that an external display was impractical.

Samsung has widened the Galaxy Z Fold 6 display by 0.11 inches.

Some of the new Galaxy AI features are also exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, including Portrait Studio, which generates AI-powered avatars of the people in your photos. Live Translate is also expanding to third-party apps, so you’re not locked into Samsung’s messaging app to translate messages in different languages.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is powered by the latest and most powerful processor for Android phones.

Samsung Notes can now translate a PDF file into a language of your choice while preserving its original format and including images and charts. Previously, the Notes app would only convert text into a new note, while retaining images from the original PDF file.

Beyond that, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 features the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor for Galaxy as the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which is the best processor among the best Android phones currently on the market.
