Jake Sloan named Americans captain for upcoming 2024-25 season

KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Tri-City Americans have named Jake Sloan as team captain for the 2024-25 season.

“Jake will enter his fifth season with the Americans and embodies everything we want in a captain,” general manager Bob Tory said in announcing Sloan as the 35th captain in team history.

The Americans selected Sloan, originally from Leduc, Alberta, in the third round of the draft, with the 55th pick in the WHL Prospects Draft.

Sloan made his first appearance for the Americans in the shortened 2020-21 season and has improved his point total in each of his four WHL seasons, including the 2023-24 season in which he was the Americans’ leading scorer with 70 points in 68 games, according to an Americans press release.

“Jake, a leader on the ice, has an even greater impact off the ice,” Tory said. “His involvement in the community, his professional and humble demeanor, and the way he communicates with his teammates, the front office and the fans set him apart.”
