TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Time to return to a faraway place!

DreamWorks has announced a new release date for Shrek 5 — the film will reprise its role as Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz as beloved Shrek and Fiona, along with Eddie Murphy as their old pal Donkey.

The new installment of the Shrek series is set to hit theaters on July 1, 2026.

“All Star Returns,” DreamWorks announced in a social media announcement Monday.

It is currently unknown if Antonia Banderas will return as Puss in Boots, who had her own hit film in 2022, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. That film’s ending teased a return to the main Shrek universe.

According to Variety, “Shrek 5” will be directed by Walt Dohrn, who worked on the three previous films as writer, artist, story supervisor, and even voice actor for the villain Rumpelstiltskin.
