The couple got married in an intimate ceremony

Congratulations to John Mulaney and Olivia Munn.

The “New in Town” comedian, 41, and the “X-Men: Apocalypse” star, 44, tied the knot in New York City over the weekend, according to People and TMZ. Sam Waterston, star of Munn’s “The Newsroom,” officiated, Waterston’s rep confirmed to USA TODAY on Wednesday.

According to People magazine, which was the first to report the news, the intimate ceremony took place at a friend’s house, and the only attendees were the couple’s two-year-old son, Malcolm, and a best man.

USA TODAY has contacted representatives for Mulaney and Munn.

The wedding comes more than two years after the couple welcomed Malcolm into the world in November 2021.

However, in March, Munn revealed that she had undergone four surgeries, including a double mastectomy, in her private battle with breast cancer.

In an Instagram post, the actress thanked Mulaney for “the nights he spent researching what each surgery and medication entails, and what side effects and recovery I can expect.”

Munn and Mulaney recently sparked speculation about their marriage when the comedian appeared in a since-deleted Instagram photo with his son wearing his wedding ring.

John Mulaney and Olivia Munn’s Relationship Timeline

This is Munn’s first marriage and Mulaney’s second. In May 2021, the “Everybody’s in L.A.” host reportedly split from his wife Anna Marie Tendler after six years of marriage. They finalized their divorce the following year.

In September 2021, Mulaney revealed on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that he and Munn were expecting a child. He also shared details about the timeline of their whirlwind romance, explaining that after getting out of rehab in February, he went to Los Angeles and began dating Munn. They met at Meyers’ wedding in 2013.

“She could have dated me right after I got out of recovery, it’s what they call a reverse capture,” he joked.

Jokes aside, the former “Saturday Night Live” writer told Meyers that his relationship with Munn is “beautiful,” adding, “Olivia and this baby helped save me from myself and that early road out of recovery.”

In an interview with David Letterman earlier this year on Netflix, Mulaney admitted that he felt a sense of fulfillment when he and Munn welcomed their first child.

“I was blown away when I met him,” he said. “I said, ‘Oh, you are. You are the thing I couldn’t find.’ I was looking in all the wrong places.”
