Pulitzer Prize for Katori Hall King of the Sharp Wings The UK premiere will take place at London’s National on 11th July.

The new production is directed by Roy Alexander Weise and stars Kadiff Kirwan.

Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Katori Hall King of the Sharp Wings begins its UK premiere at London’s National Theatre on 11 July, with an opening night scheduled for 18 July. Performances continue at the Dorfman Theatre until 14 September. Directed by Roy Alexander Weise.

The action takes place at the Memphis Hot Wing festival, where Cordell, his partner Dwayne, and their friends Isom and Big Charles are competing for the crown. A family emergency disrupts their plans. The play premiered Off-Broadway in 2020.

Kadiff Kirwan starred as Cordell, Jason Barnett as Big Charles, Olisa Odele as Everett “EJ”, Olisa Odele as Isom, Simon-Anthony Rhoden as Dwayne, and Dwane Walcott as TJ.

The production features set and costume design by Rajh Shakira, lighting by Joshua Pharo, music by Femi Temowo, sound by Elena Peña and choreography by DK Fashola. Jacob Sparrow is the casting director, with Samantha Adams serving as drama therapist. Hazel Holder is the dialect coach.
