‘F1’ Producer Solves Lewis Hamilton’s ‘Top Gun’ Problem With Joke Reference To Tom Cruise’s Upcoming Brad Pitt Project

‘F1’ Producer Solves Lewis Hamilton’s ‘Top Gun’ Problem With Joke Reference To Tom Cruise’s Upcoming Brad Pitt Project

Remember when Lewis Hamilton almost starred in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’? Unfortunately, that massive crossover between F1 and action movies didn’t happen at the time. And perhaps to make up for his grief, Lewis came up with the idea for ‘F1’. Surprisingly, the upcoming F1 movie is also being directed by Top Gun director Joseph Kosinski. It can’t all be a coincidence, can it? Hamilton recalled in an interview with GQ about his conversation with the real Maverick, Tom Cruise, “I’ll even be a janitor. Just let me be in it.”

But unfortunately, when the Briton got a call from the filmmakers, he had to turn it down. Lewis Hamilton’s conflicting schedule during the year wouldn’t allow him a two-week break to play a co-driver in the film. Although he hadn’t worked with Kosinski before, he will appear in a Formula 1 film. Lewis placed great emphasis on making “F1” as authentic as possible. “What I meant was: Guys, this movie has to be very authentic.” With those words in mind, Hamilton said Kosinski and his team moved the film from the studios to the Formula One tracks.

The “F1” film will feature a cast of Formula 1 personalities, including drivers and team principals, who will play themselves to enhance authenticity. Director Joseph Kosinski emphasized, “Everyone plays themselves. We blend into this world, so the drivers are who they are in these races.” Producer Jerry Bruckheimer noted: “We choose these drivers because they are phenomenal, they have to be amazing for F1, charismatic and handsome – they are like movie stars.”

What does Lewis Hamilton’s film “Formula 1” starring Brad Pitt want to offer viewers?

‘F1′ has a lot of surprises, including new technology to capture high-speed racing, as revealed by Joseph Kosinski. Characters Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) and Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) have official social media accounts where they share updates from the races. The story revolves around Sonny Hayes’ return to F1, adding an emotional twist reminiscent of real-life comebacks in the sport.

Brad Pitt and Damson Idris trained in F3 cars for three months, while their doubles also trained with Mercedes. Mercedes supported the film by building F2 cars that resemble F1 cars and providing the necessary assistance and advice related to the sport. Above all, Lewis Hamilton’s many years of experience in this field was an advantage in the creation of “F1”. Until now, only Günther Steiner, Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz have already had cameo roles, but the filmmakers suggest that almost every person associated with the sport will appear in the film.
