‘The Braxtons’ Returns to TV in 2024 for First Time Since Traci Braxton’s Death (Preview)

The Braxtons are back. The musical family returns to TV three years after their show ended. Braxton Family Values and two years after the devastating death of Traci Braxton.

The Braxton Family Opens Up About Grief in Season Premiere of “The Braxtons”

WE TV has released a short fragment of the first 10 minutes The Braxtons Series premiere.

“We’ve been dealing with a lot of things, so we have a lot to share,” family matriarch Miss E says in the clip. “The Braxtons never really should have left.”

“I’m glad we’re back. But the other part of it is I know there’s a piece of us missing that will never be the same without her,” Towanda says of filming the new series without her sister Traci.

Traci passed away in March 2022 at the age of 50 after a battle with esophageal cancer.

But even though Traci is not physically present, The Braxtons, continues to be a very important force in everyone’s lives. “Her spirit and energy will always be here,” Towanda says.

For Toni, coming to terms with Traci’s death has been difficult. She’s used to protecting her family, but in this case, there was nothing she could do to save her sister.

“I felt so helpless. There was nothing I could do to save her. That was really hard for me to swallow,” she says.

Worse, Toni has her own health news to deliver. While her family knows she had to have a stent inserted into her heart, they don’t know the details of the “little things.” And she’s not sure she wants to burden them with more worries so soon after Traci’s death.

“I don’t want to upset them,” she says. “I don’t even want to tell them. Maybe I shouldn’t.”

There’s no such thing as bad news in “The Braxtons”

Even though the Braxtons struggle with many issues, they still find ways to be together and enjoy life.

“In our family, there’s always a risk that something will go wrong,” Trina says with a laugh in a preview (via YouTube) of the new season.

Evelyn is ready to get back to dating, and Trina is ready for grandchildren. She is horrified to learn that her husband is pressuring their children to get vasectomies.

Next up is Toni’s new Las Vegas residency with Cedric the Entertainer.

“I tell jokes,” he reveals in the trailer.

Her family is skeptical that the Grammy Award winner has what it takes to be a comedian.

“Didn’t they tell you to focus on singing?” her mother asks.

The Braxtons premieres Friday, August 9 at 9:30 PM ET on WE tv. Episodes can be watched on ALLBLK. Fans can also catch up on previous seasons Braxton Family Values from August 15 on ALLBLK and AMC+ channels.
