In short

  • A trusted analyst has reported that Apple plans to launch two foldable devices in 2026.
  • The company is believed to first launch a foldable iPad/iMac, followed by a clamshell-style foldable iPhone.

We’ve been hearing rumors for a while now that Apple could be working on a foldable iPhone and a foldable iMac/iPad hybrid. Now, it looks like both devices could launch in 2026.

Analyst Jeff Pu’s report spotted by 9to5Mac claims that both devices will launch in 2026. Additionally, the foldable iPad/iMac hybrid is believed to be launched first, with a release date of Q2 2026. Meanwhile, Pu claims that the foldable iPhone could launch in late 2026.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a foldable iPhone coming in 2026. A leak last month indicated that the foldable iPhone would arrive in 2026 in the form of a foldable clamshell similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6. That same leak suggested that Apple’s biggest problem is eliminating the bend in the display.

Meanwhile, we’ve also been hearing about the foldable iMac/iPad for a long time. So if you like the idea of foldable laptops but want them to run macOS or iPadOS, then you should definitely take a look at this product.

Still, you might not want to hold your breath for these foldable devices. Apple is clearly in the early stages of development, so it’s entirely possible these devices will be shelved before commercial release.
