Hassan Joho denies drug trafficking allegations: ‘I run a clean business’

Joho said a multi-agency investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing in connection with the accusations, which he said were aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Recalling past events, especially those during the election campaigns, the former Mombasa governor emphasised that he comes from a family with strong business traditions and was involved in international business ventures.

“It was a multi-agency, almost international investigation, which clearly showed that there was not a shred of evidence against me. I am not a fool. I come from a family that is lucky in business, and I am grateful to the Almighty for what I have.

I deal with clean businesses that are visible and auditable. If someone talks about filed reports, let them also talk about the outcome of the dossier that cleared us,” he said.

He expressed his desire to end the investigation into the matter because it keeps coming back even after the investigation has been completed.
