What is this Industry on HBO?

Industry is a contemporary drama series set in the high-pressure world of investment banking. The first season premiered on HBO in November 2020 and followed a quintet of fresh-out-of-college “graduates” who competed for one of the few permanent sales floor positions at Pierpoint, a prestigious financial institution.

We watch as these young, hot Gen Z Gordon Geckos do their best to placate wealthy clients, navigate tense office social situations, engage in scandalous affairs, and just plain party.

Industry Summary: What do I need to know before Season 3?

You don’t need to study Dragon Lord lore or catch up on a million analytical podcasts to jump into this world. Industry this weekend. The dialogue can be a bit confusing when everything revolves around finances, but Industry is largely a show about the characters’ emotional relationships: who is on top and who is on bottom, both in business and in the bedroom.

Still want a basic summary?

In Season 1, we watched Robert Spearing and Yasmin Kara-Hanani engage in an illegal flirting game, but they eventually became roommates and friends when Season 3 came around. Industry In Season 2, Yasmin learns that her father has lost most of the family’s money paying settlements to women he sexually seduced, leaving her in financial trouble. Meanwhile, Robert tries sobriety and begins dating idealistic graduate student Venetia Berens (Indy Lewis). He also begins a secret affair with Nicole Craig (Sarah Parrish), a Pierpoint client who is prone to making inappropriate moves on young graduates (including Harper in the pilot).

In the first two seasons Industrywe saw Harper initially bond with her boss, mentor, and compatriot Eric Tao. He supported her ideas and kept her secret that she had faked her college transcripts. However, Industry Season 2 ends with Eric revealing that she never finished college, forcing Harper to be fired from Pierpoint. In Season 3, she still shares a house with Robert and Yasmin, but works as an assistant at FutureDawn, a company obsessed with ethical investing. Eric, meanwhile, has a larger role than ever at Pierpoint.
