Hyderabad:The madness of signing MOUs with dubious companies by Chief Minister Revant Reddy is now facing backlash within the party itself, with non-Indian (NRI) Congressmen from the US publicly requesting Rahul Gandhi to check all MOUs signed by Revant Reddy during his US trip and ensure there is no family involvement or irregularities in them.

This comes after BRS exposed a potential fraud behind the signing of Rs 1,000 crore MoU with Swachh Bio, a company floated by Revant Reddy’s brother A Jagadeeshwar Reddy. On Saturday, a Facebook page run by Friends of Congress USA posted an open letter to Rahul Gandhi, appealing to him to take action against the Telangana chief minister.

They said there had been “wide-ranging accusations” about the agreements signed, and one notable deal was with the prime minister’s brother’s company, which was founded last month and did not even have a website.

They also recalled that several appeals have been filed for the sacking of IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, who was part of the previous BRS government. Many allegations against him regarding the new Secretariat have surfaced recently, but the Telangana government has not paid any heed to them.

They say the memoranda of understanding were usually signed by the minister for information technology and the head of government was rarely involved.

Congress activists also reported that there are former TDP activists and “BJP secret agents” in the Congress groups.

“However, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who uses taxpayers’ money to travel with his close Indian citizens living abroad and belonging to his former party TDP, and now also BJP’s secret agents in Congress groups, are alarming,” they said.

“We appeal to you to look into all MoUs and ensure that there is no involvement of the family in it. We will soon appeal to the Enforcement Directorate to look into these MoUs and ensure that there is no quid pro quo in it,” Friends of Congress USA said in its post, adding that they hoped IT Minister D Sridhar Babu would be careful and not get involved in any MoU without proper scrutiny as his credibility would be at stake.

“We hope that the IT minister will take steps to ensure that all cooperation agreements are transparent and publicly available,” they said.

AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and other senior Congress leaders were also tagged in the post.
