Intuit Dome, the $2 billion state-of-the-art basketball arena and concert venue that has been in the works since 2021, will open with much fanfare — including a performance by pop icon Bruno Mars — on Thursday, August 15.

The state-of-the-art facility, which will feature five basketball courts, an 86,000-square-foot practice facility, a first-of-its-kind halo signage and more, will be the home of the Los Angeles Clippers and the team’s first-ever solo practice facility.

For years, the Clippers have shared space at Crypto.com Arena with the NHL’s Lakers and Kings, often finishing last on the schedule.

However, the opening of the Intuit Dome aims to redress that disadvantage and help the Clippers prove they are a force to be reckoned with on the NBA stage.

Mars’ concert at the grand opening of The Dome next week will be just a preview of what’s to come for that venue and Inglewood.

Notable artists including Olivia Rodrigo, Future and Metro Boomin, Billy Joel and Usher have already announced performances at The Dome through the end of the year — and that’s not counting sporting events.

In addition to hosting the Clippers’ 2024-25 season, which is set to begin in October, the Intuit Dome has also been selected to host the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, which is expected to generate more than $350 million in economic benefits for the region, city officials previously announced.

But that’s not all for Inglewood — the Intuit Dome and other major venues, including SoFi Stadium, will also play key roles in hosting major sporting events in the coming years, including the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics.

But it’s not just athletes and celebrity artists who will be stars of the Intuit Dome — fans will be too.

Here are some of the perks for Intuit Dome fans that are sure to make this place stand out in the eyes of many.

Hello board

The centerpiece of the Intuit Dome—in fact, what the space itself was designed and built around—is the first-of-its-kind Halo Board.

The closest comparison is probably the classic Jumbotron — or the similarly impressive, 1,000-ton Infinity Screen at nearby SoFi Stadium.

The Halo Board is the largest double-sided halo display ever installed in an NBA-sized arena. It’s smaller than the 120-yard, double-sided screen in the NFL-sized SoFi, but Intuit’s new, state-of-the-art scoreboard features enhancements designed to connect fans more deeply with the event experience.

The new screen is 44,000 square feet and is made up of 233 million LEDs. If you’re counting (or trying to win a bet at a bar), it would take more than 3,500 60-inch TV screens to make the Halo Board’s size. It’s more than 600 feet in circumference and weighs a maximum of 519,000 pounds.

The Halo Board is designed to give every one of the 17,700 seats in the arena – from the grandstands to the courts – a perfect view of what’s happening on the pitch.

But it also offers a whole host of unique, interactive features that let you engage with your fans in entirely new ways.

One feature, for example, will be a “Coach’s Corner” that will show game stats and analysis. But it could also track how fast players — and referees — are running, how often the Clippers are making certain plays, player biographies, and more.

According to ESPN, the device can also measure fan volume and is equipped with T-shirt launchers that hand out free gadgets to fans sitting at the top of the arena.

“There really is no limit to what we can do with the Halo Board,” Becky Colwell, vice president of music and events at Intuit Dome, previously said. “The possibilities are endless. From showcasing artist visuals and interactive games that engage fans, to streaming movies and more, it’s designed to be a central part of the experience.”

Each seat in the Intuit Dome also features phone charging ports and an interactive game control panel, so fans can use their unique seat number to see how they stack up against others on the Halo Board in real time.

Wall!

However, fan service does not end with the Halo Board game.

The Intuit Dome also features a special section for Clippers fans called The Wall, which features a standing room only section complemented by 51 rows of seats reserved exclusively for Clippers fans.

According to the Intuit Dome website, the wall is intended to emphasize the Clippers’ home-field advantage, so much so that those seated in that section will not be allowed to wear T-shirts or merchandise supporting any other NBA team.

“This section is for Clippers fans only. If you choose to be a part of The Wall!, you (and your guests) may not root for the opposing team or wear any gear that supports another NBA team,” the Clippers website reads. “Breaking these rules will result in loss of access to this section.”

Those interested in a seat at The Wall have countless options to choose from, ranging from single-game tickets to Ultimate Wall Passes to season memberships.

Another highlight for die-hard Clippers fans is the Flagship, the team’s first standalone retail store in the Intuit Dome Plaza.

The store features a cap wall and a “Creation Station” where fans can personalize their caps and jerseys, as well as a laser engraving machine for basketballs.

But there’s so much more to see and do at the Intuit Dome, whether it’s admiring one of six major pieces of public art installed throughout the facility, sampling the Dome Dozen menu, or searching for your former high school T-shirt framed and hanging somewhere in the building—there are already 1,500 California high school T-shirts on display and counting.
