Patrick Mahomes leads Kansas City Chiefs in first preseason game after wife Brittany’s pregnancy

The three-time Super Bowl MVP was back on the field on Saturday, August 10, as the Chiefs took on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Patrick Mahomes returned to the field to lead the Kansas City Chiefs in his first game since his wife, Brittany Mahomes, announced they were expecting their third baby together.

On Saturday, August 10, the Chiefs quarterback took to the field with his team at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida for a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Before the game, he was seen giving a pep talk to motivate his teammates in a video shared on the Chiefs’ official Instagram account.

Another video posted by the team shows Patrick running to sign a young fan’s T-shirt and posing for a photo with a man and a baby. The Chiefs also highlighted Patrick’s preppy style before the game with a photo and video of the athlete arriving at the stadium in a red polo shirt. “Polo Patrick is on site,” the post read.

Just before the game, Brittany shared a series of highlights from a fun outing to a petting zoo with the couple’s two kids, Sterling and Bronze. It doesn’t look like she made the trip all the way to Florida to watch her husband play.

In February, Patrick won the MVP award for the third time in Super Bowl LVIII after he and the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25–22.

After the game, the quarterback praised his team’s “defense” for “keeping us in it” and “of course, Harrison Butkerwho tied the game with a field goal to take the game into overtime.

Now, the three-time Super Bowl MVP will also be a dad to three, with Brittany announcing she was pregnant and expecting their third baby in a joint Instagram Reel on July 12.

In the video, the couple and their daughter Sterling, 3, and son Bronze, 20 months, laughed and danced along to ultrasound scans while wearing all-white outfits.

“Round three, here we come ,” the proud parents captioned the reel.

The couple have been married since March 2022, after Patrick proposed to Brittany in September 2020 following her Super Bowl ring ceremony.

In October 2022, the quarterback spoke about his parenting philosophy during an episode of Football in Americasaying he planned to “stay away” from his children’s sporting interests.

“I’m going to teach my son and daughter all the fundamentals and everything they want to learn. But at the same time, I want them to be the ones I’m taking care of,” Patrick says. “That’s what my dad did when I was younger, that’s what my parents did. They didn’t pressure me to do anything. I think that’s why I’m in the position I’m in today.”
