Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Premieres on Austrian TV for Free in Partnership with Disney+ After Vienna Concerts Cancelled

The streaming platform Disney+ announced on social media that it has partnered with Austrian company ORF to broadcast Taylor Swift:Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)) on free television Saturday night (August 10), one of three nights Swift was scheduled to perform live in Vienna. The Vienna Eras Tour dates, scheduled for August 9, 10 and 11, were canceled earlier this week due to threats of a terrorist attack at the 65,000-seat Ernst Happel Stadium.

The streamer responded to a letter posted to Swift’s fans (“Dear Swifties”) on the Disney+ DE Instagram account on August 10, which, when translated from German to English, announced the free TV broadcast Eras Route movie.

Austrian station ORF, the national broadcaster, aired Swift’s concert video at 9:45 p.m. local time on its public channel ORF 1.

Disney+ also offers a free 7-day trial subscription for those looking to stream Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour on the platform in Austria and Germany. The announcement, which states that the promotion lasts until August 12, is pinned to the Disney+ DE account.

Three people have been detained by Austrian authorities in connection with a potential terror attack on Swift’s canceled Eras Tour concerts in Vienna. An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday, following the previously reported arrests of a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old who were detained Tuesday. Officers described a plot to carry out what could have been a mass casualty event over the weekend among the crowd of fans outside the Ernst Happel Stadium.

Swift has not publicly commented on the events in Vienna, and news of the cancellation was first reported Wednesday by Barracuda Music, the pop star’s concert promoter in Austria: “Following confirmation from government officials of the planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for the safety of everyone. All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days,” reads a statement from the promoter, which was reposted by Taylor Nation, an account affiliated with Swift’s band.

On Saturday evening, as seen in the embedded posts from X (formerly Twitter) below, fans in Vienna posted photos and video clips while watching Eras Route films from the concert can be watched on the ORF 1 channel in bars, hotel rooms and in the comfort of your own home.

“This isn’t how we planned to spend our Saturday night… but we’re grateful that Austrian TV decided to show the Eras tour video tonight,” wrote one Swiftie in Austria.

Vienna, where Swift was scheduled to play three nights in a row, was supposed to be the penultimate city on the map of the European leg of The Eras Tour.

Tortured Poets Department The hitmaker currently has five shows scheduled at Wembley Stadium in London (August 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20), followed by a break before resuming his North American tour from October to December — with dates in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto and Vancouver.
