Ralf Schumacher’s ex-wife breaks silence after Michael’s brother, former Formula 1 star, comes out as gay, saying she ‘feels used’ and ‘wasted her best years’

Ralf Schumacher’s ex-wife breaks silence after Michael’s brother, former Formula 1 star, comes out as gay, saying she ‘feels used’ and ‘wasted her best years’

Cora Schumacher, the ex-wife of former Formula 1 star Ralf, has said she “feels used” after Schumacher admitted he is gay in July.

The couple were married for 14 years before separating in 2015 and have a son, David, who is also a racing driver.

Schumacher, brother of seven-time champion Michael, revealed on social media last month that he was in a relationship with his French manager Etienne.

Cora found out about it from social media and believes Schumacher mentally manipulated her during their marriage.

“I would like Ralf to include me or at least let me participate in his decision. That would be a sign of respect,” she told Der Spiegel, via Marca.

In a photo with partner Etienne Schumacher wrote: “The most beautiful thing in life is to have the right partner by your side, with whom you can share everything”

Cora Schumacher wonders if he really loved her and feels “stabbed in the heart”

“During his F1 career, there were a lot of rumours in the paddock. I asked him to clarify whether what was said was true, but he always denied it, telling me I was imagining it and that maybe I needed psychological help.

“When he announced it, it was like a punch in the heart. Coming out always affects the people around you, including your ex-wife, with whom you had a child.

“Today I feel used in my marriage. I feel like I wasted my best years. I ask myself many questions. Was he honest with me?

“And there is something even more important that occupies my mind: did he love me? I trusted him blindly and therefore his word was law to me.”

According to Carmen Geiss, an actress and close friend of the couple, 49-year-old Ralf Schumacher has been dating Etienne for two years. They met in Monaco.

His 22-year-old son David expressed his support for his father after he came out as gay on social media.

“I am so happy that you have finally found someone you truly feel comfortable and safe with, whether it is a man or a woman,” he wrote.

“I support you 100 percent, Dad, I wish you all the best and congratulations.”
