Late Tuesday evening, LIV Golf announced its first four events for the 2025 season, which will be the league’s fourth. All four tournaments have an international focus, but where they are on the calendar paints a bleak outlook for what’s to come on the journey to have all the best players play together in more than four major championships again.

LIV will kick off its season on February 6-8 with LIV Golf Riyadh, marking the first time LIV Golf has played in the Saudi Arabian capital. The following week, the league will travel to Australia for LIV Golf Adelaide on February 14-16, which has been by far the most successful LIV event in the league’s first three years.

LIV will then hold two more events in consecutive weeks, starting at Hong Kong Golf Club for LIV Golf Hong Kong from 7-9 March. It will then return to Sentosa Golf Club from 14-16 March for LIV Golf Singapore.

“With 2025 in sight, LIV Golf is preparing for our most ambitious start to the season yet,” said Greg Norman, CEO and Commissioner of LIV Golf. “Since our debut in 2022, LIV Golf has played 34 tournaments in nine different countries on four continents. We are a global league with a global reach and we are excited to kick off the next season with four truly international events that will deliver our unique blend of elite golf, entertainment and culture to fans around the world.”

LIV Golf’s announcement of events for the 2025 season should come as no surprise, as there’s been virtually no sign of the world’s best players ever coming together for a tournament again. However, the LIV event dates are significantly different from anything seen in the league’s first three years.

LIV Golf typically runs events opposite the major PGA Tour tournaments, partially complementing them, but often tries to avoid having flagship events on the calendar.

Not next year.

LIV Golf Riyadh will take place the same week as the WM Phoenix Open. LIV Golf Adelaide will then face Tiger Woods’ event, the Genesis Invitational.

Moving into March, LIV Golf Hong Kong falls on the same week as the Arnold Palmer Invitational, while LIV Golf Singapore will go head-to-head with the tour’s highlight, the Players Championship.

It’s important to note that all four LIV events are essentially played the day before and overnight live in the United States, so they won’t compete directly with Tour events. However, the more time that passes, the less likely it seems that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will merge.

The published schedule for LIV Golf in 2025 shows that the league is not interested in what is happening in the world of the PGA Tour.

There are two events left for LIV Golf in the 2024 season, starting next week in Chicago at Bolingbrook, the individual season finale. Then the team championship will be held the following week in Dallas at Maridoe.
