Phil Elverum’s recording project, Mount Eerie, has announced Night Palacethe new album is out November 1st via his own PW Elverum & Sun label. In addition to announcing the double LP, Elverum revealed plans for shows in New York and Los Angeles and shared two songs from the album, “Broom of Wind” and “I Walk.” Listen to both new singles below.

The recently announced New York and Los Angeles shows are two of just four shows Elverum has scheduled for the rest of 2024, with the remaining dates taking place in Olympia, Washington. Tickets for each go on sale Friday, September 6 via Ticketmaster.

Night Palace follows 2019 Lost Wisdom Part 2a collaborative project with singer-songwriter Julie Doiron, as well as a 2018 live album. (After)In the press release, the new album was compared to the highly acclaimed 2001 album Elverum. Glow part 2which he released under the pseudonym The Microphones. Night Palacethe extended tracklist and melancholic tone of both singles and the eccentric combination of influences seem to support such a comparison. “Broom of Wind,” which is accompanied by a music video, is a short folk tune that trots along before seemingly settling down to rest on a whim. “I Walk,” on the other hand, offers an icy, windy soundscape and dense, analog instrumentation.

Dedicated fans may also recognize “Huge Fire” and “& Sun (Early)” as Elverum previously released versions of each. The former came from COLORATIONa compilation released by Tokyo-based label 7e.p. Records, while the latter’s demo was released on Relentless Accelerating Rhythms – Artists United for a Free Palestinecollection of donations for the Palestinian Children’s Welfare Fund.

In 2020, Eleverum reunited The Microphones to release Microphones in 2020the project’s first new album in 17 years.
