Adele bursts into tears after emotional confession about divorce from ex-husband

Adele’s shocking 2023 confession over her divorce from husband Simon Konecki resurfaced as the singer wrapped up her Las Vegas concert.

The couple, who have an 11-year-old son together, Angelo, announced their end of marriage in 2019 after secretly marrying a year earlier.

Their divorce was finalized in 2021, and Adele, 35, began dating — and possibly marrying — sports agent Rich Paul.

Although the “Rolling In The Deep” hitmaker initially wanted to keep the breakdown of her marriage to Konecki private, it was only during a conversation with her longtime friend James Corden that fans finally learned the reason behind their split.

Adele appeared on Corden’s show Late Late Show in July 2023, when – during an appearance on a segment of the program Carpool Karaoke – she thanked the TV star and his wife Julia for the support they gave her and her family after she went on vacation with them following their breakup.

“We were driving home and my mood had changed. It was the first year I felt like I had to take responsibility for just being an adult, whereas the year before, when I left Simon, you and Jules and the kids had played such an important role in taking care of me and Angelo,” the singer recalled.

“You did it with humor too, you were like, ‘good luck with that!’ with every single thing I did, and you were always like that, you were like an adult to me, you and Julia were always giving me that advice.”

The singer also made a rather unexpected revelation about how dependent she was on James and his family, revealing that her hit single “I Drink Wine” was written after a phone call the showbiz friends had in 2020 — a year after her split was announced.

She said: “(The poem) was inspired by a conversation we had, which was January 4, 2020 or something like that.”

“We were on vacation with the children.”

The refreshed clip comes just weeks after Adele opened up about her decision to quit drinking after saying she realised she was “borderline alcoholic”.

Last October, she told fans that she had forced herself to give up alcohol completely because she was finding it difficult to balance drinking with performing every night.

Speaking to the audience at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace as her Las Vegas residency drew to a close, she confessed: “I stopped drinking maybe three-and-a-half months ago.”

The ‘Chasing Pavements’ hitmaker added: “It’s boring. I mean, I was literally on the verge of alcoholism for most of my 20s, but I miss it so much.”
