Bleacher Report brings you the latest news from the world of WWE.

WWE Reportedly Pleased With Trick’s Dunne Diss Track

Following an attack from Pete Dunne that was supposed to shut him down on Sunday at NXT No Mercy, Trick Williams released a diss track about Dunne that gained a lot of traction on social media.

In the video, Williams repeatedly turned on Dunne, calling him “Petey” and referring to him by his previous name “Butch”, which angered Dunne and led to his feud with Sheamus on Raw.

According to Fightful Select (via Nikunj Walia of Ringside News), WWE officials were “very pleased” with the fan response to Trick’s criticism.

The video was referenced and quoted multiple times on Tuesday night’s episode of NXT, proving that WWE decision-makers were aware that the video had gone viral and was a major success within the WWE Universe.

On Tuesday night’s NXT, Williams and Dunne were scheduled to face each other in the main event, but a backstage brawl broke out between the two, prompting NXT General Manager Ava to call it a mid-show brawl.

A thrilling match ensued, ending in a double count-out when Trick and Dunne went through the commentary table.

This made it clear that the Williams vs. Dunne rivalry was far from over, something Ava confirmed much later in the show when announcing a rematch.

On next week’s edition of NXT, Williams and Dunne will face off in a “Last Man Standing” match, with the winner set to face Ethan Page for the NXT Championship on the first episode of NXT on The CW on October 1.

Rhodes is reportedly the best-selling WWE merchandise item in Europe

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes continues to solidify his position as the biggest star in the company, as evidenced by his immense popularity on the international stage.

According to Fightful Select (via H Jenkins of Ringside News), Rhodes topped WWE’s merchandise sales chart during their recent European tour, which included the prestigious Bash in Berlin live event in Germany.

Rhodes’ autographed weightlifting belt was reportedly WWE’s highest-grossing merchandise during the entire tour, a testament to just how big The American Nightmare had become.

Fightful added that CM Punk came in second in merchandise sales, further justifying bringing him back to WWE last November following his release from AEW.

Like Punk, Rhodes went to AEW before returning to WWE. In addition to being one of the company’s founders, he was one of its greatest assets.

This was clearly reflected in WWE, as Cody became one of the promotion’s biggest stars since his return at WrestleMania 38, which contributed to his victory over Roman Reigns for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 40.

WWE continues to push Rhodes to greater heights and present him as the face of the company at every opportunity, and Rhodes continues to make WWE look smart for making that decision.

With SmackDown moving from Fox to USA Network next week, Rhodes will likely be featured heavily in all of the advertising campaigns, as well as the weekly show in general.

WWE reportedly has more plans for Rascalz in NXT

Amid recent appearances on NXT, reports have surfaced that TNA’s The Rascalz intend to continue appearing on WWE programming for the foreseeable future.

According to Fightful Select (via Walia), sources expect TNA X-Division Champion Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel to be appearing in NXT for at least the “next few months,” with one of the main reasons for this being that officials are “extremely pleased” with Wentz’s work and attitude.

Wentz signed with WWE in late 2020 and wrestled under the name Nash Carter, forming the group MSK with Wes Lee.

MSK were two-time NXT tag team champions and won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in 2021, but Wentz was released from his WWE contract in 2022 due to accusations of domestic violence from his ex-wife, as well as the spread of a photo that appeared to depict Wentz imitating Adolf Hitler.

Wentz returned to TNA and with Miguel reunited The Rascalz, and the working relationship between TNA and WWE reopened the door for Wentz to NXT.

When Wentz and Miguel began appearing in NXT, they were friends and tag team partners of Lee, but Lee turned on them after losing the NXT Tag Team Championship to Nathan Frazer and Axiom.

This led to a rematch between Wentz and Lee at No Mercy, which Wentz won, and then Wentz teamed with Miguel to defeat Gallus and the team of Tank Ledger and Hank Walker to become #1 contenders for the NXT tag team titles.

With Wentz coming off a number of big wins recently, it looks like he will be a fixture in NXT despite being a wrestler under contract to TNA.
