Alexa Chung and Madewell Launch Denim-Focused Collection Inspired by Trendsetters’ Favorite Vintage Finds

There are few who have mastered effortless fashion as impressively as Alexa Chung, who in the early 2000s was a front row star at the hottest shows of the season, a fixture at every appropriate downtown New York party, and a paparazzi favorite, adored for her trendsetting, off-duty modeling looks. Yet for all the articles about her style evolving over the years, her fiercely personal style comes down to one thing: simplicity.

Now, fourteen years after her first collaboration with Madewell, Chung and Gap-owned retailer Madewell have released a new capsule collection inspired by Chung’s wardrobe spanning decades, filled with rare vintage finds from her travels around the world, in addition to versatile staples like T-shirts and perfectly tailored jeans. The first half of the capsule, consisting of 14 new pieces, is available for purchase now on Madwell.com, with the second half launching in the fall.

The capsule is mostly made up of denim (in the form of bootcut jeans, overalls, Western-style button-down shirts, and ankle-length skirts) and brown suede (like this double-breasted blazer and mini skirt). One standout piece is a double-breasted blazer coat, which retails for $850.

The partnership follows dozens of high-profile collections Chung has had a hand in over the years, from the groundbreaking M&S line that catapulted her to fame (in London, at least) to a more exclusive collaboration with Mulberry Alexa in 2010 that resulted in the eponymous Alexa bag.
