Upcoming HBO Penguin series will give us some idea of ​​where Batman: Part II will take us.

In a new interview for Special effectsdirector Matt Reeves has provided a few updates on the upcoming film. He mentioned that they are currently gearing up to shoot the film in early 2025, but added that we will see some plot hints soon. “There are details that actually tie into the way the next movie starts and the way Oz enters that world as we pass the baton to Batman and Batman is on to another case,” Reeves said.

He added that “these stories are meant to be a meditation on what Gotham is like. It’s such a brutal place, and we’re looking for answers to why these people’s lives are like this.”

As for what the film’s plot will be, Reeves said that it “will delve into an epic story of deeper corruption and go places he couldn’t have anticipated in the first one. The seeds of where that goes are in the first one and it unfolds in a way that shows you aspects of the characters that you never got to see.”

“Batman is constantly battling these forces,” he added. “But these forces can’t be completely banished. So the next film delves into that more.”

As of now, the only officially confirmed actors returning for the sequel are Robert Pattinson and Farrell. While no official names have been announced yet, Andy Serkis has made it clear that he will be reprising his role as Alfred Pennyworth.

Batman hit theaters on March 4, 2022, and has grossed $765.95 million worldwide.
