Foundry Distilling’s Arrogant Bastard Whiskey Wins Gold in Competition

Des Moines-based Foundry Distilling Company was a huge success at the 2024 Whiskies of the World Awards.

The Whiskies of the World Awards is an annual competition that recognizes and celebrates the best whiskeys from around the world. The competition is judged by a panel of whiskey experts who evaluate whiskeys based on aroma, taste, finish and balance. Foundry’s collaboration with Stone Brewing, Arrogant Bastard Ale Whiskey, won the gold medal in the American Single Malt category.

Arrogant Bastard Ale Whiskey is a malt whisky matured for over four years in charred oak barrels. It packs a punch with intense and aggressive flavor notes that challenge the conventional flavor profile of traditional malt whisky.

Foundry Distilling Co. was founded in 2018 by Scott Bush, who previously spearheaded the development of Templeton Rye, inspired by his family’s involvement in the rye trade during Prohibition. After leaving Templeton, Bush founded Foundry Distilling in Des Moines, focusing on authentic, high-quality whiskey with a strong social commitment.

To celebrate this milestone, the Foundry is hosting a launch party for the award-winning whiskey at its Historic Valley Junction location. From noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, attendees will receive free cigars, a smoked meat lunch, and an Arrogant Bastard cocktail to celebrate the official launch.

Tickets are $20 per person. Bottles of whiskey can also be ordered for $50 each.
