Harris heads to Pennsylvania ahead of debate; Trump delivers speech in New York

When Harris introduced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her new vice presidential running mate at their first rally together, she called him “coach.”

One of the first stops on the campaign bus route leading up to the convention was a small town in Pennsylvania, where Walz spoke to the high school football team.

LOS ANGELES — Jury selection is set to begin today in federal court in Los Angeles in the trial of Hunter Biden on tax charges.

This is the second criminal trial in history of a sitting president’s son and the second trial of Hunter Biden this year.

Hunter Biden, 54, was charged in December with three felonies and six misdemeanors, alleging he failed to pay taxes during a period when he said he was in the grips of drug addiction and after he sobered up. The indictment says that “instead of paying taxes, the defendant spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle.”

Prosecutors allege in the indictment that Hunter Biden “engaged in a four-year fraud scheme to avoid paying at least $1.4 million in federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019, from January 2017 through about October 15, 2020, and to avoid filing taxes for tax year 2018 when he filed false tax returns in or about February 2020.”

He did not plead guilty to any of the charges brought against him.

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will debate each other next week for the first time after their campaigns agreed yesterday to rules set by ABC.

The September 10 event in Philadelphia will follow the same rules and format like the June debate between Trump and President Joe Biden.
