Leica Announces 70-200mm f/2.8 and 2x Teleconverter for L-Mount

Leica has announced the launch of the new Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200mm f/2.8 ASPH lens and 2x teleconverter for the L-mount.

The Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200mm f/2.8 ASPH lens guarantees excellent performance in telephoto applications.

The lens construction consists of 20 elements in 15 groups with three aspherical elements inside the lens to reduce various optical aberrations. Sophisticated multilayer and aqua-dura coatings on the glass surfaces, combined with a detachable lens hood, help prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens.

It has 3.5 stops of optical image stabilization and an 82mm front filter diameter. The minimum focusing distance is 25.59″ / 0.65m.

The lens weighs 3.4 lbs / 1540 g.

The Leica Extender L 2.0x is designed for the Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200 f/2.8 ASPH. and Vario-Elmar-SL100-400mm f/5-6.3 zoom lenses, effectively doubling their zoom range. The teleconverter has eight elements in four groups
