Lumen Field to Offer Most Diverse Menu for Seahawks Upcoming Season

Lumen Field to Offer Most Diverse Menu for Seahawks Upcoming Season

The return of the football season and the Seattle Seahawks also means the introduction of some delicious and eclectic new game day food options to the stadium.

On Tuesday, Lumen Field hosted the Taste of Lumen event, where media members had a chance to get a taste of the great menu options that the Seahawks will offer fans on game day.

“When you come here to Lumen Field, you go down to section 122 and you can try some of the great food that we have at Legion Sports Bar,” Seahawks legend and Legion Sports Bar founder Kam Chancellor told MyNorthwest. “We decided to bring the Bam Bam Smash Burger here. We brought the Seattle Smash Burger. We brought some of our Legion Cajun Fries and our Cajun Shrimp.”

The Bam Bam Smash Burger — named for Chancellor’s NFL nickname “Bam Bam” — and fried shrimp are two of the most popular items. Smash burgers are having a moment in Seattle, and Chancellor believes that’s because they’re as familiar to the general public as they are to him.

“I love smash burgers because they kind of mimic the type of gameplay I had when I was a gamer. You know my little hammer? I smashed the hammer, so I smash burgers. I love that, and that’s my whole smash burger game.”

Creating a substantial menu that offers something for everyone is an ambitious goal for the team at Lumen Field, and Sean Borst, senior chef at Lumen Field, takes it very seriously.

“I think our guests are really educated about food now and have eaten all over the world,” Borst said. “It’s really important to have something that’s not just hamburgers and hot dogs. We’ve raised the bar. The options have to be huge. They have to be creative.”

The menu is not the only thing that requires proper planning.

“We’re feeding 70,000 people at a time, so it’s a big operation,” Borst said. “It takes months of logistical commerce, like getting all the details right, and then it’s a good week to get everything ready because you’ve got the candy, the concessions, the catering, the media, everything under the sun.”

The entire operation will require the involvement of around 3,000 people to achieve Borst’s goal – to ensure that everyone leaves the stadium with full bellies.

Even a traditional Seattle dish has a new twist.

“One burger we came up with was a play on words for the Seattle dog,” Borst added. “It’s got jalapeno cream cheese and caramelized onions. Really, really cool food. And then Bar Dojo is really exciting. Asian-Latin fusion. Birria Ramen. Poke nachos. They’re club-level and they just rock.”

Pierogi and ramen are just the tip of the iceberg of the variety of food you’ll find on the Lumen Field menu during Seahawks games. The lobby will be filled with stands full of nachos, short rib sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, pork belly burnt ends and more.

For those looking to maximize their value for their money? The “12s Combo” returns this year with two hot dogs and pretzel pieces for $12. $5 hot dogs and $3 bags of popcorn are also available at select locations throughout the stadium.

A complete list of all menu items can be found on the Seahawks website.
