Elon Musk’s Real Estate Portfolio: All the Homes He’s Owned

Elon Musk’s Real Estate Portfolio: All the Homes He’s Owned

  • Elon Musk made headlines in 2020 after announcing he was selling all his homes.
  • Until then, Musk had been living in luxury, residing in several different properties in California and Texas.
  • He managed to sell most of his famous properties, but still owns a few.

In 2020, Elon Musk wrote on Channel X that he was selling “almost all of his material possessions” and added that he would no longer own a home.

The SpaceX CEO and South African billionaire has quickly amassed a sizable California real estate portfolio, at one point even owning multiple homes in the same neighborhood.

Musk lived what you would expect of the world’s richest people: multi-million-dollar mansions and amenities like swimming pools and tennis courts.

According to Forbes, Musk’s net worth was $252.6 billion as of September 2024. He can afford to own a few properties, so selling them isn’t entirely for cash. He added on X that he’s not getting rid of his properties for money, but is instead dedicating himself to Mars and Earth. “Owning just weighs you down,” he wrote.

True to his word, Musk has had a rash of real estate sales over the past few years, and he’s later claimed to be couch potatoes. At least at one point, he moved to a smaller apartment, living in a small house near the SpaceX launch site in Boca Chica, Texas, but Business Insider discovered he’s bought a property in Austin and has been living there since 2022.

Even with at least one property still in his possession, he recently shed millions of dollars worth of acreage. Take a look at some of the properties Musk has owned over the past few years.
