In a cover story for W Magazine, the pop star advised fans to listen to her album to gain insight

Sabrina Carpenter doesn’t like kissing and telling jokes.

IN W Magazine In an article published on Thursday, September 5, the 25-year-old pop star explained why she doesn’t want to talk about her relationships outside of music.

“I understand why people are interested,” Carpenter said. “But they can listen to my album and decide for themselves what the songs are about.”

In August, PEOPLE magazine confirmed that Carpenter was in an “entertaining” relationship with Barry Keoghan, who played the love interest in Carpenter’s music video “Please Please Please,” which premiered in June.

Rumors of the couple’s romance first surfaced in December 2023 after a dinner together in Los Angeles. They reportedly crossed paths two months earlier during Paris Fashion Week.

They made their first public appearance at the Grammy Awards afterparty in February. Although they posed separately on the red carpet, they were seen in love in the middle of the event and the party’s host W Magazine Later shared their photo Together.

A few days ago, Carpenter and Keoghan, 31, confirmed their relationship when they were spotted kissing after leaving the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.

Rumors of the couple’s split emerged in August, and Keoghan seemingly responded to the rumors by “liking” the “Nonsense” singer’s flirty Instagram post, in which she poses in light blue lingerie.

PEOPLE then reached out to representatives for Carpenter and Keoghan for comment.

In an interview given in June Rolling StoneCarpenter alluded to the unspecified relationship between her and Keoghan when she asked the interviewer how she should “steer clear” of Salty the star was her boyfriend.

“The (dating) pool is the pool, and when you meet people who seem genuine and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do,” the “Feather” hitmaker said. “I obviously write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be all that surprised that people are interested in who and what the songs are about. It’s something that’s built into the field.”
