Cooper Union Announces Seniors Will Get Free Tuition for 2024-2025 School Year

NEW YORK — Seniors at Cooper Union High School in New York City got an unexpected surprise Tuesday to kick off the semester.

A video from a private university shows students learning that tuition will be free this year.

Any senior who has already paid will receive a refund.

The decision comes as the university seeks to reinstate free tuition for all students.

About 10 years ago, Cooper Union experienced a financial crisis and began charging students tuition.

Since then, New York Attorney General Letitia James has developed a plan that has helped the school meet financial goals.
