Sky star Reese opens up about marriage and building an ’empire’

Angel Reese has made a name for herself over the past few years thanks to her LSU women’s basketball championship run and rivalry with Caitlin Clark. But the short-term chatter about the Sky rookie can be a bit repetitive at times. Thankfully, there are a few new questions about her plans beyond her rival the Fever and the WNBA ROTY award.

It’s no secret that Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are both 1A and 1B when it comes to the WNBA ROTY award. Everyone knows the Sky and Fever phenoms’ feelings about them, as it’s asked after almost every game they finish or record gets shattered. However, questions about their personal lives and ambitions aren’t usually asked. Her podcast “Unapologetically Angel” with Maya Reese dropped a big bombshell about her willingness to get married in the future.

“I want to get married, but I won’t have kids until I get married. But I also want to be able to establish myself as a businesswoman enough that my guy knows that. And I think that’s one of my biggest assets in a relationship. A guy knows that I don’t come without money,” she said.

In addition to her WNBA ROTY position, Reese had the longest double-double streak in league history, shattering the record set by Candace Parker. Along with these Sky accomplishments, her legendary status with LSU women’s basketball and her accumulated endorsements give her a pretty hefty net worth. In fact, the Sky rookie is estimated to be worth around $1.8 million.

Sure, she wants all that money to grow, and it probably will because she’s a great competitor. In keeping with that, Reese’s goal is to build an empire and continue to increase her valuation.

“I don’t come to you because you have this, this, this, this. I come to you because I really like you. And I really want to be with you, and I love you, and I see something in you. I feel like we can build an empire,” she added.

Sure, Reese is a woman with big ambitions, and that’s been evident from LSU women’s basketball to Sky. At this point, it won’t be a question of whether she can build that empire. Instead, people should be asking when she’ll do it, given her acumen on and off the court.
