Linkin Park Chooses Emily Armstrong of Rock Band Dead Sara as New Singer, Reveals Tour and Album ‘From Zero’

Linkin Park Chooses Emily Armstrong of Rock Band Dead Sara as New Singer, Reveals Tour and Album ‘From Zero’

Linkin Park’s new co-lead vocalist will be Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara, the band announced Thursday during a live performance. Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer for G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock, will also join the group as drummer.

The announcement was for a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” the band’s first new release in seven years and the lead track from their upcoming album, From Zero . The set will be released on November 15 (via Warner Records) as the band’s first full-length album since 2017’s One More Light , which was released two months before vocalist Chester Bennington’s death.

The band — which consists of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn, along with two new members — will also embark on a six-date arena tour, including stops in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul and Bogota. Watch the full tour below.

Linkin Park performed together for the first time in Los Angeles on Thursday for ticketed fans who were bused to the studio. The event was broadcast live and will be available to watch on Linkin Park’s official online channels for the next 24 hours.

According to a press release, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn “have begun quietly meeting up in recent years” and “rather than ‘trying to get the band back together,'” have been collaborating with a number of musicians and “found a special bond with Armstong and Brittain.”

Of the new era, Shinoda said in a statement, “Before Linkin Park, our original band name was Xero. This album title speaks to both our humble beginnings and the journey we are currently on. Sonically and emotionally, it addresses the past, present and future — embracing our signature sound, yet new and full of life. It was created with deep appreciation for our new and long-time band members, our friends, our family and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and excited about the journey ahead.”

“The Emptiness Machine” is set to “reflect the DNA of Linkin Park.” Shinoda said the band feels “really empowered by this new lineup and the vibrant, energetic new music we’ve created together,” adding that they’re “combining the sonic touchpoints we’re known for and continuing to explore new ones.”

Ticket pre-sale for the “From Zero” tour for the LP Underground fan club will begin on September 6. General sale will begin the following day, September 7.

The announcement follows Linkin Park’s release of Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023) earlier this spring. The 20-track LP collected the best-selling band’s biggest hits from over two decades. It was released by Warner Records and featured songs like “In the End,” “Burn It Down” and the Jay-Z mash-up “Numb/Encore,” as well as “Lost,” which helped its parent LP, Meteora, return to the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
