Alex Morgan is expecting her second child with husband Servando Carrasco. Everything about their wedding

Football star Alex Morgan is expanding his family.

On September 5, Morgan announced that she was retiring from soccer and that she was pregnant with her second baby. Morgan shares 4-year-old daughter Charlie with her husband, former soccer star Servando Carrasco.

“I’m going to cut to the chase. I’m retiring and I’m so certain about this decision and I’m so happy to finally be able to tell you,” Morgan, 35, said in a video she posted to social media. “It’s been a long time coming and it’s not been an easy decision. But going into 2024, I felt in my heart and soul that this is the last season I’m going to play football.”

“It’s also not the retirement video I was expecting at first, because Charlie is going to be a big sister,” Morgan adds later. “I’m pregnant, and even though it’s unexpected, we’re so happy. Family means everything to me.”

Morgan and Carrasco began dating during their freshman year at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2013, the couple took their relationship to the next level by getting engaged. Then, in 2014, the couple tied the knot in a ceremony in Santa Barbara, California.

Servando Carrasco met Alex Morgan when he was a teenager

Carrasco has shown her support for Morgan throughout her playing career.

Carrasco recalled how he met Morgan in a 2019 interview with The Athletic, saying they crossed paths while both attending the University of California, Berkeley.

“I’ve known Alex since I was 18. We both played football at Cal and started dating freshman year,” he said. “We’ve been together ever since.”

When asked what her playing was like back then, he said he immediately noticed how talented she was.

“Her speed on the football field was the first thing that caught my attention, and the huge knee brace she was wearing because she had just had ACL surgery six months before. To come back from an ACL injury in six months is pretty incredible, but that’s Alex,” he said. “She was pretty fragile and she had this huge squeaky brace on, but she could still run pretty fast.”

Servando Carrasco was a former professional soccer player

Carrasco, 36, and his wife share a passion for soccer. In 2011, Carrasco was selected 27th overall in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft. The first MLS team he played for was Seattle Sounders FC. He has also played for teams such as Sporting Kansas City and the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Servando Carrasco supports his wife’s career

Speaking with The Athletic, Carrasco said he still gets nervous when he watches Morgan play soccer.

“You really want them to do really well,” he said.

He says he relaxes by believing in his wife and supporting her in her career.

“But once she’s on the field, there’s really nothing I can do except be there for her and support her in any way I can,” he said. “But yeah, it’s pretty stressful not being able to help her. That’s just part of loving someone.”

Servando Carrasco proposed to Alex Morgan during a fireworks display

Carrasco and Morgan got engaged in December 2013. In an interview with The Knot, Morgan recalled how her man popped the question in Manhattan Beach, California, during an annual fireworks display.

“He was planning the proposal for that night and asked me to get up and marry him,” she said. “We took our cruise ships to my dad’s house to celebrate and drink champagne with family and friends. We had talked about what kind of engagement ring I wanted before the proposal, but I didn’t really have a specific style picked out. He had it custom designed, though.”

The couple then got married on New Year’s Eve 2014. The ceremony, which took place in Santa Barbara, California, was attended by all their loved ones.

“Being surrounded by our family and friends tonight in such a beautiful place, and on New Year’s Eve no less, was just magical,” Morgan told People at the time.

The birth of Servando Carrasco’s daughter was the “happiest day” of his life

On May 7, 2020, Carrasco and Morgan welcomed their daughter, Charlie, into the world.

“She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do things her way and only her way,” Morgan said on Instagram, calling Charlie her “supermoon baby.”

In another post, Carrasco shared a close-up photo of Charlie’s face and said his birth was the “best day of my life.”

“We love you so much, baby girl. Alex, you are a true warrior,” he said.
