Alex Morgan Expects Baby No. 2 With Husband Servando Carrasco: All About Their Marriage

Soccer star Alex Morgan expands family.

On September 5, Morgan announced that she was retiring and expecting her second child. Morgan raises her 4-year-old daughter Charlie with her husband, former soccer star Servando Carrasco.

“I’ll get to the point real quick. I’m retiring and I have so much clarity about this decision that I’m so happy to finally tell you,” Morgan, 35, said in a video she posted on social media. “It’s been a long time coming and this decision wasn’t easy. But at the beginning of 2024, I knew in my heart and soul that this was the last season I was going to play football.”

“It’s also not the retirement movie I was expecting when I first thought I’d do it because Charlie’s going to be a big sister,” Morgan later adds. “I’m pregnant, and even though it’s unexpected, we’re over the moon. Family means everything to me.”

Morgan and Carrasco began dating during their freshman year at UC Berkeley. In 2013, the couple took things a step further by getting engaged. Then, in 2014, the couple tied the knot in Santa Barbara, California.

Servando Carrasco met Alex Morgan when he was a teenager

Carrasco has been supportive of Morgan throughout her competitive career.

Carrasco recalled how he met Morgan in a 2019 interview with The Athletic, adding that their paths crossed while they were both students at UC Berkeley.

“I’ve known Alex since I was 18. We both played soccer at Cal and started dating our freshman year,” he said. “We’ve been together ever since.”

When asked what her playing was like at the time, he said he immediately noticed how talented she was.

“The first thing that caught my eye was her speed on the football pitch, and also the huge knee brace she was wearing because she had just had an ACL operation about six months earlier. Coming back from a torn ACL in six months is amazing, but that’s Alex,” he said. “She was quite sore and had this huge, creaky brace on, but she was still running bloody fast.”

Servando Carrasco used to play professional football

Carrasco, 36, and his wife love soccer. In 2011, Carrasco was drafted 27th overall in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft. His first MLS team was Seattle Sounders FC. He also played for teams like Sporting Kansas City and Los Angeles Galaxy.

Servando Carrasco supports his wife’s career

Speaking to The Athletic, Carrasco said he always gets nervous when watching Morgan play football.

“You want them to do it damn well,” he said.

As he himself admitted, one of the ways he deals with stress is by believing in his wife and supporting her career.

“But once she’s on the field, there’s nothing I can do except be there for her and support her in any way I can,” he said. “But yeah, it’s pretty stressful when you can’t help. It’s just part of loving someone.”

Servando Carrasco proposed to Alex Morgan during a fireworks show

Carrasco and Morgan became engaged in December 2013. In an interview with The Knot, Morgan recalled how her beau proposed in Manhattan Beach, California, during the annual fireworks show.

“He was planning to propose that night and asked me to get up and then he asked me to marry him,” she said. “We drove our beach cruisers to my dad’s house to celebrate and drink champagne with family and friends. We talked about what kind of engagement ring I wanted before the proposal, but I wasn’t sure about the style. He had it custom-made for me.”

The couple married later on New Year’s Eve 2014. The ceremony, which took place in Santa Barbara, California, was attended by all their loved ones.

“To be surrounded by family and friends tonight in such a beautiful place, and on New Year’s Eve, was just magical,” Morgan told People magazine at the time.

The birth of Servando Carrasco’s daughter was the “best day” of his life

On May 7, 2020, Carrasco and Morgan welcomed their daughter, Charlie.

“She kept us waiting longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and only her way,” Morgan said on Instagram, calling Charlie her “supermoon baby.”

In a separate post, Carrasco shared a close-up photo of Charlie’s face and said her birth was “the best day of my life.”

“We love you so much, little girl. Alex, you are such a fighter,” he said.
