It looks like Patrick Mahomes has his next fast-track target.

Rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy secured the team’s first touchdown of the 2024 NFL season with a spectacular run.

He caught a pass from Mahomes and ran 21 yards for a score, after setting a 40-yard dash record at the 2024 NFL Draft Combine.

Fans, including Tyreek Hill and JJ Watt, immediately took to social media to praise the play and tout Worthy’s potential.

The Chiefs selected Worthy with the 28th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Kansas City received the pick in a trade with the Buffalo Bills, and the potential seemed solid based on his fit in the offense.

Hill has found significant success in this offense as another small but speedy receiver. Hill has a very high bar to meet, but Worthy’s primary focus will be improving a Kansas City receiving core that struggled in 2024.

He had 75 receptions for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns for Texas in 2023, and a similar performance for the Chiefs would go a long way toward helping them secure a third consecutive Super Bowl victory.
