Founder of downthetubes, which he founded in 1998. John works as a comic and magazine editor, writer and promoter of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently the editor Star Trek Explorerreleased by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.

He has worked in British comic publishing since the 1980s, and has worked as an editor on titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazineand many others. He also edited an anthology of comics STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He also edited several comic book collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare.”

He is the author of Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics, Crucible, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz, and Death Duty and Skow Dogs with Dave Hailwood.
