Chino Valley Deputy Mayor Tom Armstrong Elected GAMA Vice President

The City of Chino Valley is proud to announce that last week at the Arizona League of Cities and Towns Annual Conference held in Phoenix, Arizona, Chino Valley Vice Mayor and Mayor-Elect Tom Armstrong was unanimously elected Vice President of the Greater Arizona Mayors Association.

As stated on their Facebook page, “The Greater Arizona Mayors Association (GAMA) is a gathering of mayors from north-central and northwestern Arizona who join forces to create a stronger voice in the legislature and identify, advance, and represent common interests.”

Armstrong has lived in Chino Valley for over 16 years and is currently retired. Prior to his election to the Council in 2020, Tom served on the Chino Valley Planning and Zoning Commission, where he served as Vice Chairman. While currently serving as Vice Mayor, Armstrong was elected Mayor and will assume that position at the December 10, 2024 City Council meeting. At the regional level, Tom serves on the boards of the Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization (CYMPO) and the Rural Transportation Advocacy Council (RTAC).

Current Mayor Jack Miller stated, “It is a great honor to have our Vice Mayor and Mayor-elect unanimously elected to this leadership position. By serving as Vice President of GAMA, Armstrong will increase the City’s voice and presence on important issues for our City, as well as for North Central/Northwest Arizona. Voices that need to be heard in our Legislature. I thank him for his willingness to serve in this role.”
