Let us celebrate our diversity with respect and trust for all Malaysians

The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) extends its best wishes to all Malaysians for Selamat Hari Kebangsaan and Hari Malaysia 2024. CFM joins all fellow Malaysians in this national celebration, expressing deep gratitude to God for the peace, harmony and prosperity we continue to enjoy, especially in the post-COVID-19 era.

This year, our nation celebrates the 67th Hari Kebangsaan (Merdeka Day) and the 61st Hari Malaysia (Malaysia Anniversary) under the theme of Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka. CFM welcomes this vision of creating a just and inclusive society in Malaysia through the concept of “Madani Malaysia”. CFM hopes that this vision will be embraced and realized by and at every level of society.

Respect and trust, which are two of the six core values ​​promoted under Malaysia Madani, which must be implemented if this vision is to be realized. By strengthening respect among us, we will create greater trust and confidence in our unity and togetherness, which has been the hallmark of this nation over the years. It is therefore important for each and all parties to cultivate and instill a culture of mutual respect for the diversity and values ​​found in our many cultures and faiths prevalent in Malaysia.

Today, we live in a time when we are faced with various challenges from within and without—various geopolitical conflicts and regional and international subversions. To overcome these challenges, it will take a concerted effort from all parties to preserve our achieved freedom and the cohesion we strive for. Let us work as one and pray that God’s blessings will rest upon our King, Rulers and Government as they lead our nation to greater freedom as expressed in Jiwa Merdeka.

So let us celebrate our diversity by building further on the respect and trust we inherited from our founding fathers, and ensure that it is passed on to future generations of Malaysians.
