The Texas A&M Aggies may have lost their season opener, but they are still finding recruiting success.

On Saturday morning, before their game against the McNeese State Cowboys, the Aggies got a nice surprise when South Sumter (Bushnell, FL) four-star defensive end Rashad Johnson Jr. committed to the team.

Johnson was previously linked to the Georgia Bulldogs but changed his mind.

“My relationship with the coaches, the coaches’ relationship with my coaches and my development played a big part in my decision,” Johnson told On3. “I looked at a lot and looked at four schools, but one stood out a little bit more.”

Over his first three high school seasons, Johnson was an all-round presence on the field, making 123 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, 13 intercepted passes and four interceptions, one of which was returned for a score.

Johnson, 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, is rated a four-star recruit and is ranked No. 361 among players nationally, No. 33 among defensive quarterbacks and No. 52 among players in Florida by On3 Industry Ranking.

247Sports and Rivals.com also gave him four stars, while ESPN and On3 gave him three stars.

Johnson now joins a class loaded with talent, including 14 four-star prospects and five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet.
