Important update on missing nurse’s husband as search for body intensifies

Naresh Bhatt, the Virginia man accused of hiding his missing wife’s body, will appear in court Friday as he seeks bail.

The search for pediatric nurse Mamta Kafle Bhatt, 28, last seen in July, continues in Manassas Park, while Naresh Bhatt, 37, remains behind bars for his alleged role in her disappearance.

He is accused of killing his wife of three years and the mother of their one-year-old daughter, but he has not been charged with murder.

Naresh Bhatt’s trial will begin on December 9 and a preliminary hearing will be scheduled for November 20.

Naresh Bhatt, 37, is accused of hiding a dead body during the disappearance of his wife Mamta Kafle Bhatt.

He was the last person to see his wife in late July. Before her disappearance, police conducted a wellness check at the Nepalese couple’s home on August 2 and spoke to Naresh Bhatt, who did not want to report her missing at the time. Naresh Bhatt officially reported Mamta Bhatt missing to the police on August 5.

Police have since executed search warrants at the couple’s home and discovered blood stains in the master bedroom and blood splatter in the master bathroom. Investigators also found signs suggesting a body had been dragged into the home.

Authorities also served a search warrant on Google seeking location data and search history of Naresh Bhatt. The warrant also sought information about his account, social media accounts and map searches between July 27 and August 1.

The search warrant affidavit states that Naresh’s Google account contains “specific location data relevant to locating Ms. Kafle,” WJLA reports.

In court last month, prosecutors noted Google searches made on Naresh’s work laptop in April asking how long it takes to get married after a spouse dies.

GPS tracking data from a Tesla Bhatt allegedly sold days before his arrest could also contain crucial information, police said. Fox 5.

Naresh Bhatt’s court-appointed attorney had asked the attorney general to provide him with any evidence that would help his case and defense, including any GPS information from Mamta and Narseh’s car and cellphones. His request also includes video footage from July 27 showing Mamta Bhatt getting into a car after work at UVA Health’s Prince William Medical Center.

Newsweek contacted the public defender’s office and the commonwealth’s attorney for comment.

Mamta Kafle Bhatt and Naresh Bhatt are both from Nepal. Naresh Bhatt is a US Army veteran whose Facebook page is full of pictures of him in uniform and posing with guns.

Before her disappearance, Mamta Kafle Bhatt worked as a pediatric nurse at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center. She previously worked as a nurse at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.

The couple share a one-year-old daughter.
