Colorado Springs announces I-25 and Tejon freeway closures Thursday evening

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Late night drivers, beware! If you are using I-25 at the Tejon exit, expect a detour Thursday evening.

The city said it is closing the I-25 connector between Tejon and Nevada, as well as north Tejon between Motor Way and I-25. Both closures will impact people entering and exiting the interstate, as well as drivers trying to pass under the interstate to continue toward downtown.

The closure will be in effect from 9pm on Thursday until 5am on Friday.

City authorities announced that the following detours will be introduced:

Northbound traffic On South Tejon Street, the recommended route is to take Brookside Street to South Nevada Avenue to I-25 North Connector Road and then to South Tejon Street.

Southbound traffic on I-25 you must go from South Tejon to Brookside, from South Nevada to I-25 south.

The closures were put in place so crews could move a construction barrier along the Tejon River.
