Shohei Ohtani Becomes First 50/50 Player in History in Absurd Style

Shohei Ohtani made history on Thursday, and he did it in epic fashion.

Ohtani had a great game in his Los Angeles Dodgers contest with the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida. Ohtani was 5-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs and two stolen bases through the first 7 innings.

Two stolen bases gave him 51 for the season, and his first home run gave him 49 for the year. Ohtani walked base in the 7th inning, needing one more home run to become the first 50/50 player in history, and delivered a bomb to the opposite field:

Here is his first home run of the game:

What an epic way for Ohtani to go 50/50. He single-handedly lifted his Dodgers with a huge play, delivered when pressured, and showed elite skills with both his strength and speed. He also showed his versatility as a hitter, hitting home runs to multiple areas of the field.

Ohtani reached 40/40 in thrilling fashion with a walk-off grand slam. Now he’s reached 50/50 with a completely standout performance.

As if his All-Star-level pitching and batting skills weren’t enough, he’s now done something no one else in the sport has ever done before — achieve 50/50 success in the MLB.
