Hallmark Channel’s ‘Christmas on Call’ Set in Philadelphia, Featuring Donna Kelce and Mt. Joy

Hallmark Channel’s ‘Christmas on Call’ Set in Philadelphia, Featuring Donna Kelce and Mt. Joy

Hallmark Channel, known for its cheesy but enjoyable holiday romantic comedies, is bringing you a holiday movie with plenty of Philadelphia references.

“Christmas on Call” is set in the city, and the main character is an Eagles fan. The film will feature Donna Kelce at a cheesesteakhouse, and a new song will be sung by Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata with the band Mt. Joy.

The film, which opens Nov. 22, follows Wes Sullivan (Ser’Darius Blain), a paramedic and “devout” Eagles fan who helps new ER doctor Hannah Michaels (Sara Canning) get to know Philadelphia. Their adventures in Philly include, of course, a stop for cheesesteaks where they meet Donna Kelce, the mother of retired Philadelphia Eagles center and Kansas City Chiefs center Travis Kelce.

In the scene, Donna Kelce, wearing an Eagles jersey, advises Hannah on how to order a “real” cheese steak.

The film’s soundtrack features a song by Jason Kelce and former teammates Johnson and Mailata, better known as the Philly Specials, featuring Mt. Joy, an indie rock band formed by Matt Quinn and Sam Cooper, graduates of Conestoga High School in Chester County.

The song’s title, “Santa Drives an Astrovan,” appears to be a nod to Mt. Joy’s 2016 album Astrovan , in which the band sings the line “Jesus drives and Astrovan” in the chorus. After debuting in the Hallmark movie, the holiday tune will also be featured on Philly Specials’ upcoming third holiday album, A Philly Special Christmas Party , which is set to be released a week after the premiere of “Christmas on Call.”

While the tracklist for “A Philly Special Christmas Party” was revealed earlier this month, it has not yet been revealed that Mt. Joy will co-write the song. Jason Kelce joined Mt. Joy on stage at the Mann last year — where the band will perform Friday night — so it’s only fitting that Mt. Joy returns the favor.

In addition to the Eagles-themed “Christmas on Call,” Donna Kelce will appear in the film “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” premiering Saturday, November 30.

Donna may wear an Eagles jersey while serving steak in “Christmas on Call,” but that doesn’t mean she’s choosing her favorite team or favorite NFL star son.

This year, she’ll appear in her second Hallmark Channel movie, “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” set in Kansas City. The film, which premieres Nov. 30, tells the story of romantic sparks between Chiefs superfan Alana (Hunter King), who is competing for the title of Chiefs “Fan of the Year,” and the object of her affections is the team’s director of fan engagement, Derrick (Tyler Hynes), who is a judge on the contest.

In this film, Donna Kelce plays the manager of a barbecue restaurant.
