Viewers Call Director Ryan Murphy ‘Disgusting’ After ‘Incestuous’ Clip From Menendez Brothers’ Show Emerges

Viewers have harshly criticized the director of the popular Netflix series Monster for creating an incestuous scene while presenting a story based on true events.

The streaming giant has just released the second season of the popular TV series that brought us Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story two years ago.

In the second series of the program Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story focuses on brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, who were convicted of murdering their mother and father in the family home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles in 1989.

The brothers fired 15 shots at 45-year-old José Menendez and his 47-year-old wife Kitty Menendez.

During the trial, Lyle and Erik claimed that their parents had abused them physically, mentally and sexually for years and that this was the reason for their deaths. However, prosecutors claimed that they did it for the money from their parents’ $14.5 million estate, Forbes reports.

After a jury found them guilty of first-degree murder, both brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

A nine-episode crime series telling the true events that led to the murders.

Viewers, however, found the “incestuous” scene between the brothers somewhat disturbing.

In the scene in question, the boys (played by Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch) share a tender kiss. Many people immediately took to social media to express their outrage, especially towards the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy.

One Twitter user wrote: “Ryan Murphy is going to hell, I’m not kidding, that man is mentally ill,” adding that “creating some kind of incestuous storyline” between the brothers is “so sick and twisted it makes me want to throw up.”

Another viewer called it “horrible,” while a third wrote: “Wtfff, this is disgusting.”

And a fourth said: “This is so disgusting…”

However, some were quick to come to Murphy’s defense and offer their interpretation of the interaction.

Someone wrote: “Ryan Murphy will always be Ryan Murphy in his projects, but it’s important to watch #MonstersNetflix and remember that this is exactly how the Menendez brothers acted in their relationships.

“Their emotionally codependent behavior and strange boundaries stemmed from their shared SA trauma.”

While another commented: “Ryan doesn’t portray the brothers as lovers or as having an incestuous relationship, he shows that the sexual abuse they experienced has warped their perspective on (when it comes to) love and sex.”

LADbible Group has contacted Ryan Murphy’s representative for comment.
