Nail Technician Reveals One Thing You Shouldn’t Take Personally If You Notice It While Getting Your Nails Done

You will connect with many important relationships in your life, but romantic ones should not be your only priority.

Yes, a good nail technician is certainly as important as a loyal spouse – okay, almost so important – which means that once you find a good person, you won’t want to let them get away.

But it turns out that many of us are just as at risk when it comes to visiting a hair salon as we are in our domestic relationships, as one Reddit user proved by sharing the burning question he was asking himself.

“I recently found a great nail salon in my area that is within my budget and the quality of my nails is always absolutely amazing. She specializes in acrylic and is always up to date with the latest trends. I love my nail tech,” she began.

“There’s just one thing that makes me wonder about the etiquette in a nail salon. Maybe one of the nail technicians could answer me?”

The woman added that she “tried to establish a good relationship” with her nail technician but didn’t receive a very good response.

“I feel like she’s just not interested in talking — which doesn’t bother me at all, but I don’t want her to think I’m not interested in talking to her,” she said.

“I’m sure he’s trying to focus. I’ve also noticed that most acrylic artists/artists don’t talk to their clients?

“I really appreciate her (and always tip her generously to show it) and I just don’t want her to think I’m not interested in her, but I can’t sit in silence anymore.

“Should I ask her or should I just listen to a podcast or something? How do I talk to her about this?”

While many other Reddit users joked that one of the main reasons they liked their nail technician so much was because she wasn’t talkative, others tried to calm down the person who originally posted.

“As a nail stylist, I simply choose the client,” one of them explained.

“If they are talkative, I try to talk and engage without interrupting what I am doing. If they are quiet, I am quiet too.”

They urged, “But don’t take it personally. She can concentrate, like you said, and most of us are paid on commission, so we need to get as many clients as we can in a day. If you talk, the meeting will take longer.”

“Whenever I do my friend’s nails I can spend 3 hours chatting and gossiping lol. But time is money!”

Others also agreed that it’s likely the nail tech wants to focus on the job at hand, with another writing, “Some people can’t do both. It’s obvious she takes pride in her work, your nails are beautiful. Maybe she can’t talk and do such great work. Just listen to your podcast with one ear and listen if she asks you to do something.”
