Jennifer Lopez’s Ex Thinks She ‘Enjoys’ Having Drama In Her Relationships

Jennifer Lopez’s Ex Thinks She ‘Enjoys’ Having Drama In Her Relationships

Jennifer Lopez’s ex-husband, Ojani Noa, married her in 1997 and was single in 1998. Although their relationship was short, he got to know her family well. Noa liked Lopez’s father and saw that her mother was a great motivator for her success. He also witnessed the frequent clashes between mother and daughter. Although Noa didn’t like watching them argue, he thought Lopez liked drama.

When Noa met Lopez, her career was on the rise and she was finding more and more success as time went on. Noa liked that she kept in touch with her roots throughout that time.

“She talked about her childhood in the Bronx,” he told the Daily Mail. “She loves her dad, David. He’s such a good, sweet guy. Her mom, Guadalupe, is tough. She pushed Jen to succeed.”

Noa witnessed serious arguments between Lopez and her mother. He didn’t like watching them argue, but he began to think that Lopez liked this kind of drama in her interpersonal relationships.

“She loves her mom, and Lupe is very proud of her, but I thought the relationship was toxic,” he said. “Lupe yelled at her. I didn’t like that. Now, looking back, sometimes I think Jen maybe liked the drama.”

Jennifer Lopez’s ex-partner believed that her mother’s acceptance was the key to a successful relationship

After Noa proposed to Lopez, her conflicts with her mother became even more intense. The couple wanted to have a Miami wedding, while Lopez’s mother hoped for a Bronx ceremony. When he tried to defend his future wife, Noa found himself on his mother’s bad side.

“Jen was crying all the time. Her mom was calling and yelling at her, trying to get her to move,” he said. “So I called Lupe and said, ‘You have to stop this.’ That was a big mistake. Lupe and I were tense from then on.”

Noa believed that Lopez’s relationship would only survive if her partner had her mother’s approval.

“If Ben (Affleck) has Lupe on his side, then maybe he has a chance,” Noa said shortly after the couple’s 2022 wedding.

She stopped talking to her mother for a while.

In the years before Lopez met Noa, her relationship with her mother was even more turbulent. When Lopez told her parents she wanted to drop out of college to pursue dance full time, her mother was not pleased.

“My mom and I had a fight,” Lopez told W magazine in 2013. “I didn’t want to go to college—I wanted to try dancing full-time. So she and I took a break.”

According to Lopez, they didn’t speak for months. She moved out of her family home and slept on a couch in her dance studio.

“I started sleeping on the couch at the dance studio,” she said. “I was homeless, but I told her, ‘This is what I have to do.’ A few months later, I got a job as a dancer in Europe. When I came back, I booked In vivid colors. I became a Fly Girl and moved to Los Angeles. It all happened within a year.”

Lopez finally broke the ice by buying her mother tickets to a Barry Manilow concert for Mother’s Day.
