EA Sports revealed several additions and improvements to Franchise Mode for its upcoming NHL 25 video game in a trailer released on Friday.

In addition to a 17-minute in-depth talk hosted by EA Sports Senior Game Designer Gurn Sumal, EA released a CliffsNotes version of the Franchise Mode overhaul featuring popular EA NHL YouTuber TacTixHD:

The Franchise hub has a completely new look, making it easier for players to find all the important information they need to know, like team stats, division standings, and league leaders.

Players can also immerse themselves in Franchise Mode more than ever before with the ability to view individual game results.

Now you can check the stats of any player in any match, giving you more accurate information that you can use when making lineup changes, moves or transfers.

Similarly, an awards tracking system has been added, allowing players to easily click on any player’s card and see all of the major awards they have earned throughout their NHL career.

Perhaps the biggest change for players looking for realism in Franchise mode is the introduction of no-trade/no-transfer clauses and the ability to transfer draft picks when updating rosters.

For the first time in NHL Franchise Mode, both limited and full no-trade or no-transfer clauses can be included when negotiating player contracts, adding another layer of strategy to contract and trade negotiations.

For those looking to have their rosters as up-to-date as possible before diving into Franchise mode, NHL 25 will allow players to transfer five years of draft picks via the player transfer screen.

This means every team can have a proper roster and draft capital before entering Franchise Mode, without having to wait for a roster update released by EA Sports.

Never will this feature be more valuable than during the trade deadline, when a large portion of the league will be trading up and acquiring picks.

NHL 25 will officially launch on October 4 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. That same day, the 2024–2025 NHL regular season will begin with a match between the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres in the Czech Republic.
