Sharmila seeks Cbi probe in Laddu controversy | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee boss (APCC) YS Sharmila on Friday he demanded CBI probe in the alleged adulteration of the revered laddu prasadam in Tirumala. Criticising the way Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu handled the matter, she said a sample of ghee was taken and tested on July 12, which found it to contain animal fat.
“This is not a trivial matter, it concerns the sentiments of millions of devotees across the world. Why was this issue hidden till now? Why did the CM raise it only after 100 days of his government’s tenure? Did he know about this issue beforehand and decided to hide it from the public? Tirumala laddu is not just prasadam but a symbol of devotion. How could such a sacred offering be tampered with?” she asked. Mocking the NDA government’s 100-day milestone, she compared it to “100 mistakes of Shishupala” and accused the government of focusing more on removing statues of YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) and erasing his legacy than fulfilling its election promises.
Sharmila also accused the YSRCP of losing credibility under the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, comparing it with the social legacy of YSR. “While YSR worked for the welfare of the people, Jagan tarnished that image with land-grabbing scandals like the Rushikonda controversy. The YSRCP is now a shadow of its former self,” she said.
