Here’s everything we know about Pepe Aguilar’s upcoming new song

On Friday (September 20), Pepe Aguilar stirred up intrigue with a teaser for his upcoming song, shared on Instagram. The social media caption on the release date (September 24) reads “26•09•24,” and the 22-second snippet features his emotionally charged vocals sung over a rich acoustic backdrop.

Voy a ser muy claro. Haz las cosas bien. Porque para forajidos, mijo, aquí no es. Y sé que es facil ser cabrón. Yo mismo estuve en esa situación“, sings the Mexican idol, which can be translated as: “I’ll be very clear. Do everything well. Because for forajidosmy boy, he’s not here. And I know it’s easy to be cabaret. I was in that situation myself.”

The use of “forajido” in the lyrics, roughly meaning “outlaw,” is likely meant to reference Ángela Aguilar and Christian Nodal’s controversial relationship. This interpretation is reinforced by the fact that “forajido” is also the title of Nodal’s two Latin Grammy-winning EPs Forajidos EP1 (2022) and Forajidos EP2 (2023).

In July, the day after his daughter Ángela Aguilar married Christian Nodal, Pepe Aguilar publicly gave the newlyweds his blessing via Instagram. “In every lasting relationship, love is essential, and respect and responsibility are absolutely essential,” Pepe Aguilar wrote. “With love, you face the most complicated challenges inside and outside your environment. … I’ve been in your shoes too. And in the past. And after 27 years with my wife, I tell you: There is no simple rule.”

The upcoming track is the follow-up to Pepe Aguilar’s single “Lamentablemente,” which he released in May featuring Carin León.
